Inside the PADI Divemaster Course Bali: Skills, Guiding & Mentoring
Train step by step to become a confident dive professional with real responsibility. The PADI Divemaster course in Bali combines pool workshops, ocean guiding, and hands-on mentoring so you graduate ready to work anywhere in the world. You’ll refresh Rescue skills, refine buoyancy and demonstration-quality techniques, and learn how to brief, lead, and debrief certified divers at signature dive sites in Amed and Nusa Penida.

Open water sessions develop real-world guiding ability, including site assessment, current and drift procedures, navigation, SMB deployment, mapping projects, and emergency action plans. You’ll learn to organise groups, manage depth and time, control air and safety stops, and run clear, professional dive briefings.
On the professional side, you’ll assist real courses, including Open Water, Advanced, and Discover Scuba Diving, while developing strong customer care, risk management, compressor and equipment-room procedures, logbook and paperwork handling, and marine life and conservation briefings. What are the prerequisites for the PADI Divemaster course?
To enrol in the PADI Divemaster course, you must be at least 18 years old and certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent from another recognised training agency). You’ll also need current Emergency First Response (EFR) or First Aid and CPR training completed within the last 24 months. A minimum of 40 logged dives is required to begin the course, with 60 dives needed for certification.
If you’re missing any prerequisites, need to refresh skills, or are short on logged dives, we can help you complete everything locally before or during your Divemaster training in Bali.
How long does the Divemaster internship take?
The length of the Divemaster internship depends on your previous experience, confidence level, and how much time you want to spend gaining real dive centre experience. Most candidates complete the programme in 4–8 weeks, while others choose a longer internship to build additional guiding experience, assist more courses, and log more dives.
We offer flexible schedules and personalised training plans, allowing you to progress at a pace that suits your learning style, availability, and career goals.
What will a typical day look like during the internship?
During your Divemaster internship, you’ll be fully involved in the daily operations of a working dive centre. This includes assisting instructors during training courses, guiding certified divers, setting up and maintaining equipment, participating in dive briefings and debriefings, and developing strong dive leadership skills.
You’ll also work on professional-level skills such as dive planning, risk management, customer care, and underwater problem solving. The focus is on building confidence, responsibility, and real-world experience, not just ticking off course requirements.
Can I complete my Divemaster training in Amed or Nusa Penida?
Yes. You can complete your Divemaster internship in Amed, Nusa Penida, or a combination of both locations. Amed offers calm conditions, shore diving, and an ideal environment for skill development and training, while Nusa Penida provides experience with drift diving, stronger currents, and encounters with larger marine life such as manta rays.
We’re happy to help you choose the location, or mix of locations, that best supports your training needs and future career plans.
Does the Divemaster internship include accommodation and meals?
Yes. Our Divemaster internship includes accommodation as well as breakfast and lunch on diving days, allowing you to focus fully on your training without worrying about daily logistics. Fun dives during the course are also included as part of your training experience.
If you’d like to extend your stay, add extra dives, or customise your package further, we’re happy to help arrange additional options to suit your plans.
What opportunities are available after completing the Divemaster course?
Completing your PADI Divemaster course with Jukung Dive opens up a variety of pathways within the dive industry. Many of our Divemaster graduates move on to guiding roles in Bali or other international destinations, seasonal or long-term dive centre work, or continue their professional development towards the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC).
We’re always happy to offer guidance on career planning, next training steps, and building experience after certification, helping you move forward with confidence.
Who will I be training with during the Divemaster internship?
You’ll be training with a team of highly experienced PADI instructors who work full-time in our dive centres in Amed and Nusa Penida. Our instructors are active professionals with extensive real-world experience in guiding, teaching, and dive centre operations, and they focus strongly on mentorship throughout the Divemaster programme.
You’ll receive hands-on guidance, constructive feedback, and support as you develop your skills, helping you grow into a confident, capable dive professional rather than just completing the course requirements.
Will I have time to explore Amed and Nusa Penida during my free time?
Yes. While the Divemaster internship is a structured and hands-on programme, there is still time to explore and enjoy life in Amed and Nusa Penida outside of training hours. Free time will depend on the dive schedule and weather conditions, but many candidates enjoy relaxing on the beach, exploring local cafés, visiting nearby viewpoints, or taking short trips on days off.
We encourage a healthy balance between training and downtime, allowing you to fully experience Bali while developing your professional dive skills.
