Before you arrive, you’ll receive a link to access the PADI eLearning platform, where you can study at your own pace through short videos, quizzes, and your final exam. Completing this in advance saves time on site so you can spend more time enjoying the water once you’re here.
Your first in-water session takes place in one of our training pools. We have two pools, including an infinity pool in Nusa Penida. You’ll practise assembling your scuba gear, clearing your mask, and mastering buoyancy control in calm, shallow water before heading to the ocean. Over the next two days, you’ll complete four ocean dives at Bali’s top dive sites. Expect clear, warm water, vibrant coral reefs, and unforgettable encounters with marine life.

How The PADI Open Water Course Works
Our PADI Open Water Course in Bali is designed to fit comfortably into your holiday while earning you a globally recognised scuba certification. Whether you train in Amed or Nusa Penida, the course follows the same clear 3–4 day structure, combining PADI eLearning, pool sessions, and open-water dives at some of Bali’s most beautiful dive sites.
Day 1 – PADI eLearning & Pool Session
Before you arrive, you’ll complete the theory portion using the PADI eLearning app from home. This allows you to learn at your own pace through short videos and quizzes, covering essential topics such as buoyancy, equalisation, and underwater signals. Once in Bali, you’ll meet your instructor for a full equipment briefing and safety overview before entering the pool. In our training facilities, including the infinity pool in Nusa Penida, you’ll practice key skills such as mask clearing, regulator recovery, and buoyancy control in calm, shallow water.
Day 2 – Ocean Dives 1 & 2
It’s time for your first ocean dives. You’ll visit carefully selected beginner-friendly sites near our dive centres, such as Jemeluk Bay or the Pyramids in Amed, and Crystal Bay or Manta Point in Nusa Penida. With your instructor by your side, you’ll begin applying your new skills while exploring coral reefs, tropical fish, and sea turtles.
Day 3 – Ocean Dives 3 & 4 & Certification
Your final two dives focus on refining buoyancy, navigation, and building confidence underwater. Depending on conditions and the season, you may dive the USAT Liberty Shipwreck in Tulamben, encounter manta rays at Manta Point, or even spot the elusive Mola Mola (ocean sunfish).

To join the PADI Open Water Course Bali, you should be in good general health and comfortable in the water. You must be able to swim 200 metres continuously (any stroke) and float or tread water for 10 minutes without assistance. No previous diving experience is required. This is a true beginner course, though snorkelling experience can help you feel even more confident.
You are also required to be 10 years or older (10–15 years will be certified as Junior Open Water Diver and will have shallower depth limitations).

Doing your PADI Open Water Course in Bali is a life-changing experience and often the start of a new passion for diving. Once you learn to dive with Jukung Dive Bali, you may find yourself travelling the world to explore new dive sites or returning to Bali for your PADI Advanced Open Water Course, Rescue Diver, or even Divemaster training. Your PADI eLearning materials are issued at the time of booking and are yours to keep. They can be used at any PADI Dive Centre worldwide but are non-refundable once activated. A deposit equal to the PADI eLearning fee is required to secure your booking. If needed, you may reschedule your course according to availability.
