Overview

Give your child the skills and confidence to become a certified diver with the PADI Junior Open Water Diver course in Nusa Penida.

Designed for young adventurers aged 10–14, this internationally recognised course includes PADI eLearning, one comprehensive pool training session and four open-water training dives with one of our experienced PADI Instructors.

During the course, students learn how to use scuba equipment, control their buoyancy and practise essential diving and safety skills. Once comfortable in the pool, they will complete four training dives in Nusa Penida’s beautiful tropical waters, gaining confidence with every dive.

After successfully completing the course, students receive their PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification. Children aged 10–11 can dive to a maximum depth of 12 metres under the direct supervision required by PADI, while older junior divers follow the relevant PADI depth and supervision limits for their age.

FAQ

Do I need any previous diving experience?

No previous diving experience is required. Students must be at least 10 years old, able to swim and comfortable in the water. A completed medical questionnaire and permission from a parent or legal guardian are also required.

What is included in the course?

The course includes PADI eLearning, one comprehensive pool training session, four open-water training dives, full scuba equipment, instruction from a certified PADI Instructor, DAN dive insurance and PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification upon successful completion.

How does PADI eLearning work?

PADI eLearning allows students to complete the theory online at their own pace before arriving. It covers essential topics including scuba equipment, dive planning, underwater communication, buoyancy and safety. The instructor will review the key information and answer any questions before the practical training begins.

Are the courses taught in small groups?

Yes. We keep our groups small so each student receives plenty of personal attention, support and time to build confidence. Group sizes may vary depending on the students’ ages and experience.

Will we dive with manta rays?

Manta Point may be possible when sea conditions, the student’s age and their comfort level allow. However, dive sites are selected by the instructor with safety as the priority, and manta ray sightings can never be guaranteed.

How long does the course take?

The practical training usually takes three days after the PADI eLearning has been completed. However, the schedule can be extended to three or four days depending on the student’s confidence, comfort and progress.

What can I do after completing the course?

After certification, Junior Open Water Divers can continue diving within the PADI depth and supervision limits for their age. Divers aged 10–11 may dive to a maximum depth of 12 metres with a PADI Professional or certified parent or guardian. Divers aged 12–14 may dive to a maximum depth of 18 metres with a certified adult.

Which languages are available?
