At Jukung Dive Bali, your child’s safety, confidence, and enjoyment are always our highest priorities. As one of Bali’s most established dive centres, proudly operating since 2004, we’ve helped thousands of families experience the joy of exploring the ocean together. Our team speaks English, Indonesian, Chinese, French, and Spanish, ensuring clear communication and reassurance for both children and parents.

Each children’s PADI course is carefully designed to combine learning with adventure. Before entering the ocean, kids begin with shallow-water or pool-based sessions to build confidence and master essential scuba skills. Once comfortable, they progress to Bali’s warm, clear waters to discover colourful coral reefs, tropical fish, and the gentle rhythm of the sea. Every session is paced around your child’s comfort level, creating an experience that is exciting, educational, and completely safe. We believe diving should inspire confidence, curiosity, and respect for the ocean from a young age.

The PADI Bubblemaker program is the perfect introduction to scuba diving for children aged 8 and above. Designed to be fun, safe, and interactive, this pool based session gives kids their very first experience of breathing underwater. Our friendly, certified PADI instructors begin by explaining how scuba gear works and introducing the basics of dive theory in a way that is simple and exciting for young learners. PADI Junior Open Water Course – From 10 Years Old

For young adventurers ready to take their diving to the next level, the PADI Junior Open Water Course is the perfect starting point. Designed for children aged 10 and above, this internationally recognised certification teaches essential scuba diving skills through engaging lessons, hands on pool practice, and real world ocean dives in Bali’s crystal clear waters.

Over 3 to 4 days, your child will learn dive theory, safety practices, and equipment handling before taking part in four open water dives under the guidance of our experienced PADI instructors. Each session builds confidence step by step, turning nervous first bubbles into a calm, capable, and certified junior diver.

Children aged 10 to 12 years can dive to a maximum depth of 12 metres, always under the supervision of a parent or PADI professional. The course follows the same high standards as the adult PADI Open Water Diver Course, with flexibility to adapt based on each child’s confidence and maturity. Upon completion, they will earn their PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification, a lifetime qualification that can be easily upgraded to the full Open Water certification once they turn 15.

Please note that for any of our children’s PADI programs, your child must be able to swim and comfortably maintain themselves at the surface. Safety is always our number one priority at Jukung Dive Bali.

Every child who dives with us receives close, personal supervision, with a maximum ratio of two students per instructor to ensure full attention and care. Before each session, our team carefully selects dive sites that are calm, shallow, and perfectly suited for young or first time divers. If a location is not appropriate for children, we will always suggest the safest and most enjoyable alternative.

We use child sized dive equipment and smaller air tanks designed to fit comfortably, making the experience both safe and enjoyable. Our goal is to help every young diver feel confident, supported, and excited to explore the ocean, always with safety and smiles in mind.

What age can my child start diving with PADI?

Children can begin their scuba diving journey from the age of 8 with the PADI Bubblemaker programme. This is a fun, shallow-water experience designed to introduce children to breathing underwater in a safe and controlled environment. From the age of 10, children are eligible for additional programmes such as PADI Discover Scuba Diving, PADI Scuba Diver, and the PADI Junior Open Water Course. Each programme is structured differently depending on age, attention span, and physical development, ensuring the experience is both enjoyable and age-appropriate.

Is scuba diving safe for children?

Yes, scuba diving is very safe for children when taught correctly and under professional supervision. At Jukung Dive Bali, safety is always our highest priority. All children’s programmes are conducted by certified, experienced PADI instructors who are trained to work specifically with young divers. We carefully select calm, shallow dive environments, introduce skills gradually, and closely monitor each child’s comfort and confidence throughout the course. Sessions are adapted to the child’s pace, ensuring a positive and stress-free learning experience.

Does my child need to be a strong swimmer?

Your child does not need to be an advanced swimmer, but they must be comfortable in the water and able to swim and float at the surface. Confidence in the water is essential for enjoying the experience and following basic instructions. All children begin with pool or shallow-water training, where skills are taught slowly and clearly before progressing. Our instructors take the time to ensure each child feels relaxed and supported before moving on.

What equipment will my child use during the course?

We provide all necessary scuba diving equipment, including child-sized wetsuits, masks, fins, regulators, and smaller tanks designed specifically for younger divers. Proper fit and comfort are extremely important for children, which is why our team carefully adjusts and checks all equipment before each session. All equipment is professionally serviced and maintained to international safety standards, allowing children to focus on learning and enjoying the experience.

How many children are in each group?

We keep group sizes small to ensure close supervision and personalised instruction. For children’s programmes, we aim to maintain a maximum ratio of two students per instructor whenever possible. This allows instructors to give each child their full attention, monitor their progress closely, and respond immediately to any concerns. Small group sizes also help children feel more comfortable and confident in the water.

Can parents watch or stay nearby during the course?

Yes, parents are very welcome to observe pool sessions or remain nearby during training. We understand that parents want reassurance, especially when their child is trying scuba diving for the first time. Our team is happy to explain the course structure, safety procedures, and progression in advance, and to provide updates throughout the experience. Creating a calm, supportive environment for both children and parents is an important part of what we do.
