Location
Bali's East Coast
Jukung Dive is located in Amed at the north eastern tip of Bali. From our basis at Amed it is a bustrip of maximum 20 min. to the village of Tulamben, the location of 5 excellent divesites of which the wreck of the USS ‘’Liberty’’ is the most welknown. All other divesites can be reached in the same time or less. So diving and staying in Amed saves you at least 5 hours per day compared to divers who stay in Nusa Dua, Sanur and Kuta-area. After diving you can relax in the pool of your hotel, make a trip by motor bike, do some snorkelling etc. etc, while others are "snoring" in the bus on the way back to…………… So what do you prefer: snoring or snorkelling ? And the next day another exciting dive site is waiting for you without having to get out of your bed at 05.30!!!
The
exceptional rich underwater flora and fauna in this region of Bali's waters
is a result of the combination of the 'Indonesian trough flow', and it's
location (only 8 degrees from the equator in the world's richest marine
bio-geographic zone).
The Indonesian 'trough flow' pushes plankton rich water from the Pacific
Ocean to the Indian Ocean through the Lombok strait (between Bali and
Lombok). This plankton attracts fish, attracting bigger fish, attracting
bigger fish and so on.
Taken together, these factors take credit for a single bay harbouring more
species than they say- the entire Hawaiian island chains. |
